This month marks 15 years since I started blogging. I started with the now defunct site Themestream, and shortly after it went down, I moved to Blogger. Actually, in a sense, I’ve been blogging longer than that. For 3 years prior, I was writing articles for a weekly ezine.
Anyhow, over the years, I’ve learned a few tricks for driving traffic to blogs. One key to building a community around your blog is sharing on social media.
In 2015, this should go without saying, but each time you write a blog post, share it on your social media accounts. On some accounts, like Twitter, share it several times over a period of several hours to increase the likelihood of your social media followers seeing your blog post.
Consider also using Facebook Notes and LinkedIn Pulse to duplicate the content of your blog post but linking back to your blog post.
Don’t forget to use your personal social media accounts to like, retweet, comment, and share the blog post. Interacting with your blog content on your professional social media accounts will also help more people see your blog post.
If people like what they see, they’ll comment on it, like it, and reshare it, creating a viral snowball effect that can help drive traffic to your site.
Share your blog posts on social media is one of the best ways to build a community and drive traffic.
