The Church organized a new district in South African on February 2nd. The Klerksdorp South Africa District was organized from three mission branches in the South Africa Johannesburg Mission, including the Jouberton, Klerksdorp, and Potchefstroom Branches. The newest of these three branches, the Potchefstroom Branch, was organized in 2003, whereas the Klerksdorp Branch has operated since 1966. This area of South Africa on the outskirts of Johannesburg has experienced slow growth. However, the organization of the district may indicate improvements in local leadership development and increases in active membership to warrant the organization of a district. One of the branches in the new district had approximately 50 active members in late 2016 per a report from a local member.

Dear Kim Siever. I am David in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am glad to be able to locate a member a hemisphere and half an earth away! I have a possible missionary contact in Potchefstroom. If you are a local resident you may be aware of Amira Willighagen who attends the High School for Girls and who is an internationally celebrated young prodigy singer with an opera voice. Her Gelukskinders.org foundation has built four local children playgrounds and you-tube has featured many of her performances. I attach one of her This Is Me videos dated Easter of this year that would enable a missionary to be familiar with Mother Frieda and brother Fincent. Here is a comment from youtube: More insight into her private, ordinary life. Doesn’t this girl have the words rest and sleep in her vocabulary? She runs, gets groceries, studies, practices for school classes, performs, and not just locally, but around the world, and oversees her charity! I’m exhausted just listing all those items. Amira is an incredible young woman and South Africa and the Netherlands should both claim her as their national treasure. I just love this girl. Not just because of her singing and her beauty. It goes without saying those are unsurpassed. But because she is just down-to-earth, and a self-made humanitarian; so to speak. And humble, despite her fame(which she does not really care that much about). She is a rare person and she is definitely blessed by God. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbevvjmhtLY. and another: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGTYYAD0xZE Her home appears to be close to Medina Pharmacy. I hope this finds you well and happy from David.
Hi, David, I’m actually not in Africa.
